The Village of Anmore, promoted by “small
is beautiful,” has been traced back to Anmore
resident, and the first president of Greenpeace, Bob
Hunter. This concept was for a traditional community
with limited services, acreage and community control
of local issues. Here residents can enjoy the rural
lifestyle and stay connected to urban culture. The former
heritage home of “Ma” and George Murray
serves as the municipal hall for the village as well
as houses a museum with the focus on the Murray’s
legacy and Anmore’s heritage.
The popular Buntzen Lake serves as a source of hydroelectric power and a beautiful recreation area.
